(A.A.P. 06/07/2001; Gympie Times p.18. Saturday July 7 2001)
BISHKEK: A group of Kyrgyz archaeologists said yesterday they intended to look for the
burial site of Saint Matthew, one of Jesus Christ's 12 apostles, near the Central Asian
country's Issyk-Kul Lake. A manuscript of a long-ago archbishop known as Vladimir said the
body "was kept in a monastery on the shore of the Issyk-Kul Lake," near the
border with China and Kazakstan.
